The cause of death of Alex Hughes - son of former Man United legend Mark Hughes at the age of 38 has been announced by the investigating agency.

According to British media, the cause of death of Alex Hughes - son of former Man United legend Mark Hughes - has been identified by the investigating agency as Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SAD).

Alex Hughes was found unconscious by his two sons in his bedroom at his home in Prestbury, Cheshire (England) on the morning of June 19. Although his eldest son immediately underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), he still did not survive.

After more than a month of investigation, the Cheshire Coroner's Court concluded that Alex Hughes died of SADS - a syndrome that causes sudden cardiac arrest without clear warning signs beforehand.

At a hearing held in Warrington, medical experts said that SADS often occurs in young men and about 800 cases are recorded each year in the UK.

Before the passing of his son, former striker Mark Hughes said his family was completely devastated. Alex's funeral was held at St Peter's Church in Prestbury with the participation of many famous figures in the football world, including former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

Before his death, Alex Hughes worked in the scouting and player recruitment department of Grimsby Town club. He left behind his wife and two sons.

Mark Hughes, 62 years old this year, is one of the outstanding strikers of Welsh football. In his playing career, he has played for Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and Blackburn Rovers.

After retiring, Mark Hughes switched to coaching, once leading the Wales national team and many clubs in the Premier League.
