On May 6, Tuy An Nam Commune Health Station (Dak Lak province) informed that a case of a dog suspected of having rabies biting many people had just occurred in the area.
According to the Tuy An Nam Commune Health Station, the dog is black, weighs about 10 kg, has hair falling off in patches, light red eyes, and signs of lethargy.
At about 7 am on the same day, the dog appeared in the An Chan market area and bit two people. After that, it ran from Tuy An Nam commune towards Binh Kien ward and continued to bite three other people.
The victims include: N.N.T (48 years old, residing in Binh Kien ward), N.T. C (70 years old), T.T. P (51 years old), P.V. T (43 years old), N.T. L (51 years old, all residing in Tuy An Nam commune).
All victims have been taken to Phu Yen General Hospital for rabies serum injections.
According to Tuy An Nam Commune People's Committee, after causing injuries to many people, the dog continued to run to Binh Kien ward. The commune government contacted Binh Kien ward People's Committee to coordinate handling. After that, people in Binh Kien ward discovered and beat the dog, suspected of being rabid, to death.
Currently, Tuy An Nam Commune People's Committee is mobilizing victims to get fully vaccinated, and at the same time implementing many measures to prevent and control rabies in the area.
