In the early morning of yesterday, January 5 and the morning of January 6, dense fog appeared in Soc Trang province. The thick fog reduced visibility and affected traffic activities.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc in Soc Trang City said that at 6 am she was traveling to Long Phu District (Soc Trang Province) for work. Due to the thick fog, visibility was only about 100m. "I had to turn on my headlights and move very slowly because I couldn't see anything ahead. When I got to work, my jacket was completely wet from the fog," Ms. Ngoc said.
Mr. Ly Truong Khoa in Soc Trang City said that early in the morning when he took his child to school, he had to wrap a scarf and cover the child tightly to avoid getting cold and wet from the dew. However, the weather was pleasant because it was chilly, similar to the air in Da Lat.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chin in Long Phu district (Soc Trang province) said that the fog also affected the rice production activities of farmers. Ripe rice fields cannot be harvested early in the morning because the rice is wet and easy to lose, so they have to wait until noon, when the sun is clear. Some green rice fields also cannot be sprayed with pesticides or fertilized.
Information from the Soc Trang Province Hydrometeorological Station said that the Soc Trang province area is affected by the southern edge of the continental cold high pressure which has been weakened again. The equatorial low pressure trough with an axis of 5 - 8 degrees North latitude connecting with the low pressure area in the South East Sea continues to maintain, then gradually lowers its axis to the South. Above, the subtropical high pressure tends to lower its axis to the south through the South Central region, gradually strengthening its activity. In the sea off the eastern coast of the South, the Northeast wind is strong. In addition, the large difference in day and night temperatures combined with high humidity has caused fog.
Forecast for the next 10 days, the weather in Soc Trang province will remain rainless, sunny during the day, and foggy in the early morning. The nights and early mornings will be chilly.
