According to Lao Dong, fog appeared early in the morning along with cool air. Many people moving on the street felt it clearly.
"This morning, when I went to work, the sky was more hazy than the previous days. Previously, Ho Chi Minh City often had this phenomenon, but today it was more obvious, it felt quite uncomfortable" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Khoa (living in Thu Duc City) shared.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the cause is that the continental cold high pressure is slowly weakening but another cold air mass is strengthening, moving down, affecting the northern provinces of our country. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis through the Central region is operating stably.
Tropical depression (weakened from storm No. 10) operating in the sea northwest of Truong Sa archipelago weakened into a low. Northeast wind in the sea southeast of the country operated at medium intensity.
The above weather patterns have caused the humidity in the air to be quite high. At 7am this morning, the humidity in the Eastern provinces was generally over 80%, Ho Chi Minh City 87.7%, Ta Lai (Dong Nai) 93%. The high humidity, the Northeast wind pushes the humidity from the sea to the mainland (the source of humidity from the lowlands, where a lot of water vapor converges), creating a layer of fog near the ground.
Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecast Department of Southern Hydrometeorological Station - said that fog is a normal meteorological phenomenon when there are sufficient conditions of high humidity, low air temperature, and light wind.
"The fog phenomenon is not classified as a dangerous weather phenomenon, and does not directly reflect the level of air pollution. To determine the level of air pollution, there must be measurement and analysis data from the authorities. With this phenomenon, from now until New Year's Day and Lunar New Year, there will still be some days similar to this morning. This is a normal meteorological phenomenon, people should not panic or worry" - Mr. Le Dinh Quyet said.
