Areas with thunderstorms include Tan Thoi Hiep, Thoi An, An Phu Dong, Go Vap, An Hoi Dong, Thong Tay Hoi, An Hoi Tay, Tan Son Hoa, Tan Son, Tam Binh, Di An, An Phu, Binh Hoa, Lai Thieu, Can Gio, Cu Chi, Tan An Hoi, Phu Hoa Dong, Binh My, Dong Thanh, Hoc Mon, Xuan Thoi Son, Ba Diem, Thanh An, Dau Tieng and Minh Thanh.

The intertropical convergence zone has its axis through the South Central Coast and the South, combined with the southwest monsoon in the South with weak to moderate intensity and strong wind convergence, creating conditions for widespread thunderstorms.

Common rainfall is 10-40mm, in some places over 50mm.

During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17m/s). Heavy rain in a short time can also cause localized flooding in some areas.
