The water level of large hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region on July 28 maintained within operating limits, Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang reservoirs continued to discharge through spillways.

According to updated data from the reservoir monitoring system at 3:00 PM on July 28, the Northeast and Northwest regions recorded water flow to large reservoirs continuing to be at a fairly good level.

At Tuyen Quang reservoir, the upstream water level reached 106.99m, 13.01m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to the reservoir reached 1,895m3/s, total discharge volume 1,227.45m3/s, of which 504m3/s through the spillway and 723.45m3/s through the plant. The reservoir is opening 1 deep discharge gate.

In the Northwest region, Hoa Binh reservoir has a water level of 100.68m, water inflow to the reservoir is 3,500m3/s, total discharge volume is 4,473m3/s, including 1,479m3/s through the spillway and 2,994m3/s through the plant. The plant is opening 1 deep discharge gate, not opening the surface discharge gate.

Son La Lake recorded a water level of 198.07m, water inflow to the lake of 3,205m3/s, total discharge volume of 3,245m3/s, all through the plant.

Lai Chau Lake has a water level of 287.62m, water flow to the lake 1,626m3/s, total discharge volume 1,537m3/s, not discharged through the spillway dam.

Huo Huoi Quang Lake reached a water level of 369.83m, only 0.17m away from the normal water level. Water flow to the lake reached 254m3/s, total discharge volume 340m3/s, all through the plant.

Ban Chat Lake has a water level of 470.05m, a water inflow rate of 311m3/s and has not been discharged.

Meanwhile, Thac Ba reservoir reached a water level of 52.17m, water inflow to the reservoir was 690m3/s, total discharge was 442.28m3/s, all through the plant.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting on July 28, the Northern region, the Central Highlands and the South will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with locally very heavy rain.

Heavy rain and localized heavy rain are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes.
