According to monitoring from satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning systems, thunderstorms are developing in many areas of the South, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning.
The affected areas include many localities in Ca Mau, Vinh Long, Can Tho, An Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.
Forecast for the next 0-3 hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop and cause showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas. After that, the thunderstorm area tends to expand and spread to neighboring areas.
Common rainfall is forecast to be 10-50 mm, locally over 60 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-8, equivalent to about 8-21 m/s. Heavy rain in a short time can also cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
Regarding weather developments in the next 24-48 hours, the intertropical convergence zone with its axis through the North and North Central regions is weakly active, from September 6th it tends to move southward. The Southwest monsoon maintains intensity from medium to strong, while wind convergence continues to exist in the area.
In the next 3-10 days, the trophic convergence zone will continue to move southward. Around September 8-9, the convergence zone will have its axis through the Central Central region and tend to be active.
Therefore, the Southern region has showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30 mm, locally heavy rain over 60 mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening).
