According to Decision No. 2340, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 individuals with outstanding achievements and bravery in forest fire prevention and fighting.
The two individuals honored are Mr. Trinh Van Ha and Mr. Hoang Van Sum - forest management and protection staff of Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board.
As reported by Lao Dong, at around 9am on August 23, a pine forest in Hamlet 14, Nghi Tien Commune (Nghi Loc District) suddenly caught fire. Authorities mobilized more than 200 people to fight the forest fire. However, due to strong winds, the pine forest caught fire easily, making firefighting very difficult. After many efforts to put out the fire, it was not until 2pm on August 23 that the fire was extinguished.
While fighting the fire, two officers from the Nghi Loc District Forest Protection Management Board were severely burned. Local residents and authorities then helped take the two officers out of the forest to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the Nghi Loc District Forest Protection Management Board, more than 3.2 hectares of pine forest were burned in this fire. The cause of the forest fire is under investigation.
To date, Mr. Hoang Van Sum has stabilized and has been discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, Mr. Trinh Van Ha suffered deep burns covering 35% of his body and is continuing to receive treatment at the Le Huu Trac National Burn Institute.
Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board regularly cares for and supports Mr. Ha's family in treatment care.
It is known that Mr. Trinh Van Ha is a worker, his father-in-law is a special disabled veteran, and his family circumstances are difficult.
According to Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board, after Mr. Ha's health stabilizes and he is discharged from the hospital, the unit will complete the procedures to request competent authorities to appraise and consider resolving his war invalid regime according to regulations.
