On the morning of January 23, at Cua Sot Fishing Port (Thach Kim Commune, Thach Ha District), ships and boats were bustling to dock to sell seafood.

Mr. Do Xuan Cuong (50 years old, residing in Xuan Phuong village, Thach Kim commune) said that his boat is a small boat with a capacity of 44CV, so he fishes close to shore.

On this year-end trip, Mr. Cuong and 4 other workers on the boat caught a large amount of seafood, selling for 20 million VND, each person received about 3 - 4 million VND to spend during Tet.

“In general, the weather during Tet this year was quite favorable, so we went out to sea and caught a lot of seafood. The selling price also increased due to high demand, so we are very excited. Hopefully, after Tet, the weather will continue to be favorable so that we can go out to sea regularly, bringing good income to the family,” Mr. Cuong shared.

Mr. Ngo Van Dao (33 years old, residing in Xuan Phuong village, Thach Kim commune) - owner of fishing boat HT 90219 - said that his boat has 8 people, catching 1.6 tons of seafood in nearly 1 week, including Luong fish, Mu fish, Dom fish, Dong fish, which were sold for about 90 million VND.

“We are excited to have such a successful last sea trip of the year. Now we have to wash our fishing gear and anchor the boat to rest and celebrate Tet. After Tet, if the weather is nice, we plan to set sail again on the 6th or 8th,” Dao shared.

Rest assured to anchor the ship to celebrate Tet

In Ky Ninh ward (Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province), in the past few days, many fishermen have also had a big catch of anchovies, earning hundreds of millions of dong.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Phu - Vice Chairman of Ky Ninh Ward People's Committee - said that on the morning of January 22, a group of fishermen in Tam Hai 1 and Tam Hai 2 residential groups used 8 small boats to go fishing about 3 nautical miles off the coast of Ky Ninh Ward and caught about 100 tons of anchovies.

Upon arrival, fishermen sell anchovies for 10,000 VND/kg to traders, earning nearly 1 billion VND.

"The year-end fishing trip was a big success, the fishermen were very excited because they had a large sum of money to spend and shop for Tet" - Mr. Phu shared.

Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Director of Ha Tinh fishing ports - said that rarely has the Lunar New Year had such favorable weather as this year. Therefore, Ha Tinh fishermen went out to sea to catch large quantities of fish, bringing in good income.

“The last fishing trips of the lunar year have brought fishermen high incomes thanks to the increase in seafood prices and high demand. Thanks to that, fishermen have money to shop, spend well during Tet, and celebrate Tet more happily and fully,” Mr. Son shared.
