On the morning of August 24, Mr. Pham Quoc Vuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tinh Khe commune (Quang Ngai) said that a fishing boat fire had just occurred in the area.
At 11pm on August 23, Sa Ky Border Control Station (Sa Ky Port Border Guard Station, Quang Ngai) discovered the fishing boat QNg 91478 TS of Mr. Tran Quoc Hai (51 years old, residing in An Vinh village, Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai) anchored at Sa Ky estuary when it suddenly caught fire.
Immediately afterwards, the border guards mobilized a canoe with 16 officers and soldiers to participate in the rescue, coordinating with fishermen to cut the anchor, pulling the burning boat to the middle of the river to avoid the fire spreading. At the same time, it informed the waterway rescue force, the Provincial Police Department and local functional forces to come and support. The fire was not controlled until 1:20 a.m. on August 24.
According to ship owner Tran Quoc Hai, the initial cause was determined to be an electrical short circuit, with total estimated damage of about 1.1 billion VND.
