The film "Red Rain" has been released in theaters with its first screenings. The film received a storm of compliments from both experts and audiences.
The script for "Red Rain" is set in 1972 when the war was escalating fiercely. Red Rain takes the main story of 81 days and nights of protecting the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, and at the same time shows the fierce situation of the war on both fronts, from the military front in Quang Tri to the diplomatic front at the Paris Conference.
The film recreates the atmosphere of the 1972 Paris Conference with the participation of 4 sides: the Democratic Government of Vietnam, the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, the other side is the US delegation and the Saigon government.
However, although it recreates the participation of the 4 sides with images that remind many historical figures such as Advisor Le Duc Tho, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh... , "Red Rain" does not give the real name to the character, only introducing it on generic (a list of characters) as "ch character participating in Paris negotiations".
In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, when asked "Is this a way to avoid possible controversy?", director of the film "Red Rain" - Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen said: "From the beginning of the film "Red Rain" we have clearly stated that this is a fictional story. The film is inspired by a real story. The name and address of the film crew unit has also changed, for example, the K3 Tam Son Battalion in the film is based on the real K3 Tam Dao Battalion in history.
I think the problem is not being afraid of controversy, but because the film crew of "Red Rain" wants to tell a fictional story to inspire the audience, with the hope that after watching the film, the audience will find historical documents to read, to understand more deeply and more carefully about those years".

According to director Dang Thai Huyen, the film "Red Rain" also wants the audience to focus on the film story as much as possible, not to be dispersed, spend time in controversy over whether the story is true or not, whether that unit or the character in the film is similar in history... "Red Rain" just wants to send an emotional story about 1972 on the front of Quang Tri and the Paris Conference, and wants the audience to focus on watching, focusing on the tragic atmosphere that the film wants to convey.
The Paris Conference held in France in 1972 was a fierce diplomatic front. To gain an advantage on the diplomatic front, the two delegations of the Vietnamese revolution had to wait every minute for developments from the military front.
In her memoir Family, friends and country Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh wrote, ...In Paris, we always looked forward to Quang Tri, especially the fight in the famous ancient citadel... We know that our soldiers are all very young. They understand that the "land" struggle here means regaining freedom, independence for the Fatherland, and they are willing to sacrifice" - extract page 128 of the memoir "Family, friends and country".
For the Paris Agreement to be signed on the historic 27/1/1973, for nearly 5 years it was a "both fighting and negotiating" combination, a tense and complicated struggle between us and the US on all three political, military and diplomatic fronts.

In her memoir Family, friends and country, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh wrote long chapters about her nearly 5-year journey with the two diplomatic delegations of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Paris (France) pursuing the goal of asking the US to decline the level of war, towards signing the Paris Agreement.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was born in 1927, birth name is Nguyen Thi Chau Sa. She was former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and served as Minister of Education and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
From 1968 to 1973, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh held the position of Head of the Delegation of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, then the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Vietnam participated in the Conference of the Four sides on ending the war and restoring peace for Vietnam in Paris.
