On August 18, Dong Le Commune Police (Quang Tri province) said that a resident in the area had just discovered a stray turtle.
While working, Mr. Duong Van Be (resident of Kim Lich village, Dong Le commune) discovered a stray turtle.
Realizing that this was a rare sa nhân turtle, Mr. Be proactively contacted the People's Committee of Dong Le commune and the Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department to report and hand over the turtle to functional agencies.
After receiving information, forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level of Dong Le commune coordinated with officials of Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department to receive and inspect the turtle individual.
After that, functional forces organized the release of the sand turtle back to its natural environment.
Mr. Duong Van Be's proactive handover of the turtle individual shows awareness and responsibility in protecting wildlife, and at the same time contributes to spreading the message of protecting nature and biodiversity in the community.
Functional agencies recommend that when wild and rare animals are detected, people should not hunt, trade, raise or transport them illegally; it is necessary to proactively notify functional agencies for guidance and handling according to regulations.
