Returning to Lang Nu village in early October, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded the daily activities of the people after the historic storm and flood.
After losing their homes and fields, the villagers of Lang Nu village are looking forward to having a solid roof to stabilize their lives.
While waiting for the resettlement area to be urgently completed, people will be arranged to live in temporary houses.
In the small space of the temporary shelter, dozens of people with similar circumstances live together in one area.
Everyday activities gradually stabilized. Everyone encouraged and supported each other in cooking and eating, especially with the children.
Mr. Hoang Van Vo - one of the households who lost both their homes and their loved ones shared: "It has been a month since my wife and children passed away due to the terrible flash flood. The pain has not yet subsided, but now we have to put aside the pain to live a better life."
"The villagers have stabilized their lives and helped with funeral arrangements for the deceased after a period of searching for the missing person," Mr. Vo confided.
Currently, this man has returned to work taking care of the cinnamon trees left after the storm and flood.
In a small, simple house in a temporary shelter, Nguyen Van Tuan - who lost his home, parents and a child after the flash flood - said that the process of recovering will be very difficult but he still has to try to be a support for his remaining relatives.
"I was lucky to survive the terrible flood and have been discharged from the hospital for more than 2 weeks now. My family will continue farming and living to stabilize our lives soon," said Mr. Tuan.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Xu - Secretary of Lang Nu village said: "The lives of the villagers have temporarily stabilized. People have temporary houses to live in. Children have started going to school, adults have returned to work."
According to Lang Nu village Secretary Hoang Ngoc Xu, the local government always propagates, encourages and shares the pain and loss of the people so that they can overcome adversity.
"Governments at all levels are very interested in sharing and encouraging people as well as supporting State policies; at the same time connecting with volunteer groups to help people rebuild their lives," Mr. Hoang Ngoc Xu shared.
On October 11, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Chairman of Phuc Khanh Commune People's Committee Nong The Manh said: After 1 month of the historic flash flood, people's lives have basically started to return.
The completion of the temporary shelter has helped homeless people have a place to live. The resettlement area is currently being cleared and the first house will be built in a few days.
“The best and most necessary issues will be prioritized for Lang Nu village. The district and province are conducting surveys to support people with crop and livestock varieties to restore production activities,” added Nong The Manh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phuc Khanh Commune.
