Voters of An Minh district said that currently, the Thuan Hoa Commune Water Supply Station is overloaded and does not have the capacity to carry water. They requested that there be a solution soon to pipe tap water for people in the commune to use.
According to the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, Thuan Hoa commune water supply station was invested and put into use in 2014, currently serving about 2,500 households in the hamlets of Tan Thanh commune. Currently, demand has exceeded the original design capacity, affecting people's daily water use needs, especially during the dry season.
The Center for Rural Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation (NSWST) is coordinating with the locality to survey the location to drill an additional well to increase the capacity of Tan Thanh Water Supply Station. At the same time, the Thuan Hoa Water Supply Station serving Tan Thanh is divided into Tan Thanh Water Supply Station, to overcome the overload situation in some areas at the end of the route.
Regarding the proposal of the Center for Sanitation and Water Supply and Kien Giang Water Supply Company Limited to continue expanding water diversion in phase 2, the units said they are implementing it.
Currently, the district is operating 4 centralized water supply stations, serving 9,909 households in communes: Thuan Hoa, Tan Thanh, Dong Hung, Van Khanh, Van Khanh Dong, Van Khanh Tay, Dong Hung A and part of Thu 11 Town. In 2024, continue to put into use Dong Hoa and Dong Thanh water supply stations to serve about 1,000 households. By 2025, it is expected to build Dong Hung B water supply station and Dong Hung water supply station (upgraded). At the same time, the proposed investment in expanding the pipeline in Van Khanh Dong and Van Khanh Tay communes is currently waiting for funding to be allocated for implementation. The proportion of rural households in An Minh district using clean water from centralized water supply works will reach over 55%.
In addition, the 10th boat line and the Chet Ot canal line (Dong Hung commune) still lack water for daily use, people petitioned the Kien Giang Center for Water Sanitation and Water Resources to quickly resolve it for people to use.
Taking note of voters' opinions, the Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Kien Giang Water Supply and Sewerage Company Limited to review and consider solutions.
