According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, at Hoang Van Thu Street 2030, the entrance is extremely narrow and dark. The stairs leading to the above houses are old and severely damaged, and must be supported by a drain. Although it was recorded during the day, there was almost no light, so the reporter had to check the flashlights to travel.
Living in a dark, dilapidated room in the second attic in Area No. 207, Mr. Tran Dinh Tu (born in 1958) said that due to the deterioration, this attic 2 is now only left by him and another household. Most households here have to use shared toilets on the first floor, so it is very inconvenient.
"For decades, we have always lived in fear because the house is too degraded, and every time there is wind and rain, it leaks, and we have to use a bucket to collect water, but when there is a storm, we have to relocate, which is very difficult. Knowing that it is dangerous, but at an old age, I was alone, so I had to accept it" - Mr. Tu said.
Not far from the residential area No. 20, the residential area of 181 Hoang Van Thu has also fallen into a state of serious degradation for many years. On the wall, there are many long cracks. In the second attic, the living space was narrow, divided by bamboo tarpaulins, with bites and throbs.
Not only the two houses above, moving through Tran Dang Ninh Street in Nam Dinh Ward is a 5-storey house with an old, dilapidated, and dilapidated appearance.
Seeing the reporter coming, many people living here gathered to share their thoughts and aspirations. Mr. Vu Dinh Thang - living in a 5-storey house on Tran Dang Ninh Street - said: "The 2 buildings in this 5-storey house have existed for a long time, and have now expired. We all hope to move to a safe place, so we just hope the government will soon have a support plan."
According to the plan issued in 2022 by the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province (old) on renovating old apartment buildings in the area, apartment buildings at 181 Hoang Van Thu and 207 Hoang Van Thu are on the list of apartment buildings that must be demolished due to having level D dangerous houses. The 5-storey apartment complex on Tran Dang Ninh street (including 5-storey apartment buildings at 2 and 4) is on the list of apartment buildings that need to be demolished for reconstruction.
In mid-June, before the merger, the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province (old) drafted a plan to renovate and rebuild old apartment buildings in Nam Dinh city to replace the plan issued in 2022.
