The Long Phuoc Road Upgrade Project (in Long Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City) started in 2017 with an investment of more than 260 billion VND. After a period of difficulties due to land clearance and the COVID-19 pandemic, it has now been completed. Mr. Nguyen Van Luc and many other households living in Long Phuoc Ward are very excited to escape the difficult travel situation of the past.
“Previously, this area was full of islands, the roads were difficult to get to, we had to take a boat and always wished for a convenient road. And after 7 years, that wish has come true, I am extremely happy,” said Mr. Luc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc (residing in Long Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city) said that this project is very important to local people. According to him, the road will connect smoothly from the starting point of Long Dai bridge across Tac river to the end point in ward 7 adjacent to Tac river (in Dong Nai province).
“This makes it easier for people to travel, shortening the journey to Long Binh ward and Thu Duc city center, instead of having to go around Truong Phuoc bridge, Nguyen Xien street - Go Cong intersection like before,” said Mr. Phuoc.
According to Lao Dong, Long Phuoc Street is nearly 6km long, 12m wide, and the last section is 9m wide. According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Director of the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Long Phuoc Street upgrade project is one of the key projects of Thu Duc City, playing an important role in completing the regional traffic network, connecting Long Phuoc Ward with Long Binh Ward and meeting the increasing travel needs of people on Long Phuoc Island.
At the same time, the project also contributes to gradually completing the planned traffic infrastructure system, promoting urban development with residential projects, university clusters and eco-tourism along the Dong Nai River - as a driving force for the development of the eastern gateway of Thu Duc City.
“In addition to meeting the investment goals of the project, the completion and operation of Long Phuoc Road will expand the new connection route to the eastern gateway of Thu Duc City, which has great significance for traffic in the area; sharing the increasing traffic burden in Thu Duc City,” said Mr. Tuan.
