Prestigious people contribute to changing the way of life in the village
Ia Lap is still a particularly disadvantaged area in Dak Lak province.
People's lives mainly depend on small-scale, low-income agricultural production; The cultivation and living practices in some places are still outdated, significantly affecting the socio-economic development process.

According to statistics, the whole commune currently has 875 poor households with 3,378 people, accounting for 45.72%; near-poor households are 310 households with 1,041 people, accounting for 16.2%.
Of which, poor households belonging to ethnic minorities have 424 households with 1,728 people, accounting for 45.2%. These figures show that the poverty reduction problem in Ia Lap still has many challenges.
In that context, the role of village elders and prestigious people in the community is becoming increasingly important.
By the end of 2024, the whole commune will have 6 prestigious people, all of whom are knowledgeable about customs and practices and are trusted by the people. Every advice and movement of theirs has a strong influence in the village.
Mr. Lang Van Xuan (born in 1965, residing in Chieng) is one of the outstanding prestigious people. Over the years, he has always struggled with the desire to help people change old habits, towards a more civilized and progressive lifestyle.

According to Mr. Xuan, one of the things that made him feel uneasy was the situation of a group of young people abusing alcohol and lacking the will to get involved.
Therefore, whenever he has free time, he goes to each house and meets each person to analyze the right - wrong, better - worse, encourage young people to limit alcohol, work hard, learn new techniques to increase income.
For children, he always emphasizes the role of learning. Study to escape poverty, learn to have a future is what he often reminds families.
For students who have reached adulthood, he encourages them to perform their military service, considering this an environment for training to mature, fostering a sense of responsibility towards their family, community and homeland.
In his conversations with young families, Mr. Xuan often starts with simple but profound advice: To escape poverty, first of all, families must love each other, eliminate bad customs, and maintain cultural discipline. Children of school age must complete grade 12, then learn a trade, study at university or join the army to grow up.
According to Ms. Lang Thi Ut (born in 1969), the rustic but sincere advice of Mr. Xuan and other prestigious village elders has gradually penetrated into the village life.
Thanks to that exemplary and persistent nature, the appearance of Ia Lap commune is changing day by day.
Security and order are maintained, people's lives are increasingly prosperous. Many solid houses have sprung up, the village roads are cleaner, and motorbikes are appearing more and more.
When people feel secure in doing business and pay more attention to their children's education, their material and spiritual life will also gradually improve.

Supporting the goal of sustainable poverty reduction
According to the People's Committee of Iaiap commune, prestigious people and village heads have made important contributions to the effective implementation of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas.
Thanks to the active participation of prestigious people, many policies and guidelines of the Party and State are clearly understood, agreed upon and proactively implemented by the people.
People boldly abandon bad customs, gradually applying science and technology to production, thereby increasing income and improving their lives.
Mr. Cao Thanh Hoai - Head of the Department of Culture - Social Affairs of Ia Lap commune - affirmed: "Preditable people play a particularly important role in local socio-economic development.
They are people trusted by the people, their words have weight, so the government can help them spread policies and guidelines to ethnic minorities effectively".

According to Mr. Hoai, in the context of the government apparatus being organized in a streamlined, efficient and efficient manner, the role of prestigious people becomes even more prominent.
They understand the language, life, difficulties and customs of their compatriots, so the messages about developing production, maintaining security and order, and building a civilized lifestyle are always conveyed closely and easily received.
The local government expects the prestigious people to continue to promote their sense of responsibility, experience and customs knowledge to accompany the commune in the work of propagating and disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies and laws of the State. Thereby, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction, building new rural areas and promoting the development of ethnic minority areas in the coming period - in line with the major orientation that the Central Government is focusing on implementing.
