In the An Duong Vuong street area, District 5, during a thunderstorm, a broken tree branch fell and hit a woman who was stopping her car wearing a raincoat, seriously injuring her and she had to be taken to the emergency room.
According to reporters at 5:00 p.m. on September 4, authorities in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City were still handling the scene and regulating traffic through the area.
According to local residents, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. At that time, it was raining heavily and the wind was strong. The woman was driving a black Lead motorbike on An Duong Vuong Street in the direction from District 5 to District 1. When she had just passed the An Duong Vuong - Huynh Man Dat intersection about a few dozen meters, the woman stopped under a tree to put on a raincoat when suddenly, a tree branch from a height of more than 10 meters broke and fell on the woman. Accordingly, the victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the emergency room.
In addition, at Thanh Da residential area (Binh Thanh district), an old tree suddenly fell onto the street, causing a woman passing by to be slightly injured by a fallen branch. A car parked on the street was also crushed by a branch. At the scene, the tree stump was uprooted from the road, causing the concrete sidewalk to crack, and power lines were pulled along, causing a power outage in the area.
Upon receiving the news, Binh Thanh District authorities quickly arrived at the scene to fix the problem.
Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecast Department of Southern Hydrometeorological Station - said that Typhoon Yagi is forecast to enter the Gulf of Tonkin. The storm will only affect Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region with heavy rain.
According to Mr. Quyet, the tropical convergence zone has an axis through the South Central region connecting with storm number 3. The southwest monsoon is operating at medium to strong intensity.
Today and the next 3 days, Ho Chi Minh City and the South will have rain, showers in many places in the afternoon, afternoon and evening, some places will have heavy rain to very heavy rain. During thunderstorms, be on guard against tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
