Lao Dong's records on To Ngoc Van street show that the rain occurred in a short time but with high intensity and heavy rain, causing the road to fall into a deep flooding situation, with water rising to more than half a wheel in some places.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (technology vehicle driver) said: "Rain comes very quickly, only about 15-20 minutes and the road is already deeply flooded. Vehicles passing by stall continuously, many people have to turn around because they cannot continue driving.

The Cau Duong Quang Trung market area has turned into a "river", causing difficulties for traffic during peak hours in the afternoon of May 2.

In the western and southern areas of the city, similar flooding occurred. Some roads recorded rapid water surges after about 30 minutes of heavy rain.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop strongly, causing widespread showers and thunderstorms with lightning in many areas, including wards/communes of Binh Tien, Tan My, Tan Hung, Phu Dinh, Dien Hong, Phu My, Binh Loi, Bac Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, Ngai Giao, Kim Long, Bau Lam, Hoa Hiep, Thanh An, Dong Hoa, Binh Duong, Long Binh, An Phu Dong...
Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 50 mm. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be wary of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain in a short time can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The weather pattern causing thunderstorms is due to the low pressure trough connecting to the hot low pressure area in the West being compressed and gradually moving southward. Above, the subtropical high pressure has its axis through the Central region, tending to raise its axis to the North, combined with wind disturbances at high altitude operating in the Southern region, creating conditions for thunderstorms to develop.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, Ho Chi Minh City will enter a seasonal transition phase with many thunderstorms appearing in the late afternoon. People are advised to follow weather forecasts, proactively plan to move to avoid deep flooded areas, ensuring safety.
