In the entire Military Region 9 today, the An Giang Provincial Military Command is the only unit that simultaneously maintains two specialized teams to perform the task of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains in Cambodia. Team K92 and Team K93 have two search directions but both carry on their shoulders a sacred mission of searching for the children of the Fatherland who are still lying in the friendly land after the war.
The biggest difficulty is the race against time. Many witnesses who directly participated in combat or witnessed the burial of martyrs are now over 80 years old. From the meager information, repatriation team officers have to compare with battle diagrams, military maps and conduct field surveys many times to zone for search.
Under the 40-degree Celsius sun of the Cambodian dry season, officers and soldiers of the two gathering teams are still diligently clinging to the area. Some days they have to walk dozens of kilometers through forests, over hills, wading streams to reach the search area. In many places, motorized vehicles cannot approach, all equipment must be transported by manpower. At night, in the deep forest without electricity or phone signal, they hang hammocks to sleep temporarily under trees and then continue their journey the next morning.

Major Danh Ny, a guide of Team K92, is one of the people who have been attached to this special job for many years. He knows every road, every hamlet, every forest where the unit has set foot. For him, each source of information provided by the people is a ray of hope. "There are sources that we have to verify many times to be able to deploy the search, sometimes searching for a whole month without results. But we always encourage each other to try our best, because behind each search is the waiting of the martyr's family for decades," Major Danh Ny shared.
Over the years, Team K92 has effectively implemented the model "Gratitude Propaganda Team". Cadres who are fluent in Khmer language come to each hamlet and village to meet people, monks, and elderly people to propagate the humanistic meaning of the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains. They help people repair houses, support necessities, provide medical examinations, free medicine and participate in many social security activities. From these meaningful actions, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers is increasingly trusted and loved by the Cambodian people.
If Team K92 builds an information network from local people, Team K93 owns a very special "live data bank", which are veterans who directly fought on the Cambodian battlefield. Many people are now over 70 years old but still deeply concerned about their comrades still lying in the land of friends. Every time they remember a place name or a battle in the past, they proactively contact the unit to provide information. From the dry season of 2001 - 2002 to now, Team K93 has searched and collected 2,202 sets of martyrs' remains in Cambodia and in the country. In the dry season of 2025 - 2026 alone, the unit has collected 76 sets of martyrs' remains.
Colonel Cao Minh Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of An Giang Provincial Military Command, said that the work of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains has always been identified by the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command as a particularly important political task, demonstrating the responsibility and morality of "When drinking water, remember the source" of the nation. "For many years, officers and soldiers of Team K92 and Team K93 have always promoted the spirit of responsibility, overcome all difficulties and hardships, stick to the area, stick to witnesses to search for comrades. The results achieved by the two teams not only contribute to alleviating the pain and expectation of martyrs' relatives but also continue to affirm the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime," Colonel Cao Minh Tam emphasized.
Responding to the "500 Days and Nights" Campaign, the Provincial Military Command has directed agencies and units to do a good job of preparing forces and vehicles, ensuring logistics and techniques, and at the same time continue to expand the information provision network, closely coordinate with the government, armed forces and people of Cambodia to improve the search efficiency in the coming time.

We determine that there is still information that the search is still being organized, and the task of one martyr not yet returning is not yet finished. With the highest political determination, officers and soldiers of Team K92 and Team K93 will continue to strive to overcome all difficulties, strive to successfully complete the task in the "500 Days and Nights" Campaign, contributing to bringing more heroic martyrs back to their homeland, families and comrades," Colonel Cao Minh Tam affirmed.
In the remote forests of Cambodia, soldiers in green uniforms are still quietly searching for their comrades, bringing them back to their homeland, the beloved motherland.
