Da Nang - The water was more than 1m deep, causing hundreds of households in Thanh An village (Dien Ban Tay commune) to be isolated for many days.

On October 30, according to the Relief Team of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard at Da Nang Port (Da Nang City Border Guard) to Thanh An village (Dien Ban Tay commune, Da Nang city), the water level here was still flooded from 1-1,5m deep. Many households were completely isolated and could not leave. To move, people had to use boats, buoys or ask for rescue support. The whole village has nearly 200 households surrounded by floodwaters for many consecutive days.

Amid the flood, the Da Nang City Border Guard force coordinated with volunteer groups to cross the rushing water, bringing gifts to the people in flooded areas. Gifts including clothes, mineral water, canned meat, bread, dry food, milk, medicine, diapers... were delivered to each household that was struggling to cope in difficult conditions.

Joy shone on people's faces when relief boats arrived in the immense floodwaters. To reach people in deeply flooded areas, the rescue team had to use a ST450 canoe, a specialized motorboat and fully equipped with life jackets, overcome the fast-flowing water to bring gifts and boxes of necessities to the people.

Ms. Doan Thi Thuong, Principal of Da Lan Huong Kindergarten, shared: "Today, my group and I went to the place and gave the people practical gifts so that they could have food and drinks while they were isolated.

When I went to the field, I saw that people in flooded areas suffered many disadvantages. Although the gifts are small, they contain the affection and sharing of people across the country sent to the Central region during difficult days".

Directly participating in giving gifts to support people in the flooded areas of Thanh An, Major Doan Hong Quang - Political Commissar of the Border Guard Station of Tien Sa Port - shared: "When we arrived, witnessing people living in deeply flooded areas for many days, we were truly heartbroken. The road to residential areas is very difficult to travel, having to use a high-chassis vehicle to transport goods through flooded sections on the highway, then switch to a canoe, boat... to be able to approach and give gifts to the people".

The rain has stopped, the flood will pass, but the image of relief boats winding through the rushing water, the hands holding each other in the midst of hardship will still stand, as proof of the spirit of sharing, affection and compassion of Da Nang people in times of trouble.
