Among them, there was a journalist from Vietnam News Agency.
Assessing the cause, the Ministry of Transport said that due to the impact of the flood from October 5 to 11, 2017, the impact of exploitation changed the terrain and geomorphology of the upstream area, leading to floods with a rapid concentration rate, changing the main flow direction and changing the drainage cross-section of the bridge. In addition, the impact of drifting trees and bamboo bushes stuck in the bridge increased the obstruction of drainage capacity, creating turbulent flows around the pier body, causing deep erosion under the T4 pier body, causing the T4 pier to tilt, causing the 4th span to collapse and the 5th span to collapse.
