On September 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ha Vinh Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nong Cong commune, Thanh Hoa province, said that by the morning of the same day, floodwaters in the area had receded by about 50cm compared to September 19.

According to Mr. Thanh, as of 7:00 AM on September 20th, the whole commune only had 9 households flooded. More than 400 households relocated on the spot have returned home. For the 23 households relocated centrally, currently 16 households have returned home, and the remaining 7 households are expected to return on the same day.

Currently, the locality continues to organize duty shifts, closely monitor flood developments and water levels on rivers, canals, lakes, and dams; deploy response measures corresponding to flood alert levels, absolutely not subjective or negligent.

Providing information about the flood situation in the area, Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Linh commune, Thanh Hoa province, said that although on the night of September 19, Yen My reservoir carried out flood discharge, however, due to the moderate discharge flow, by the morning of September 20, floodwater in the area had receded.

Floodwater in people's houses has basically receded completely in the night of September 19. The locality has the advantage that when the rain subsides, the water also recedes quickly. Currently, the government and people are prioritizing post-flood cleanup work. The commune health station is also carrying out disinfection spraying to ensure environmental sanitation" - Mr. Ha informed.

In Kim Tan commune, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hao - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said that by the morning of September 20, the water level of the Buoi River had receded below alarm level III. However, there are still more than 900 households in the area whose houses have not been completely drained, mainly concentrated in the area of Thach Dinh and old Thanh Kim communes.

According to Mr. Hao, on September 19, the locality supported 2,500 supplies of necessities for people affected by floods.

Today, the locality continues to mobilize forces to support people to clean up their houses and sanitize the environment, with the motto "clean up to where the water recedes, help people stabilize their lives soon" - Mr. Hao said.
