According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on the afternoon of September 16, deep flooding occurred in some villages of Nong Cong commune, Thanh Hoa province, and some residential areas were temporarily cut off.
In Van Thien village, dozens of households were deeply flooded. Some households were flooded nearly 1m deep, affecting life and daily activities. Many belongings and livestock had to be raised high or put on boats to avoid floods.
Mr. Pham Van Mich (66 years old, residing in Van Thien village, Nong Cong commune) said that in recent days, due to heavy rain and rapid floodwaters, his family's house was deeply flooded.
Although the floodwater level this year is about 1m lower than the flood season in 2025, my house has been completely flooded. The floodwater rose quickly, causing my family to only have time to prop up necessary items and utensils, and most of the rest was flooded" - Mr. Mich said.
According to Mr. Mich, currently the family has to use boats to move in and out of the house. Pets such as chickens and pigs must also be brought onto boats or to a high and dry place to avoid floods.
Currently, Van Thien village has dozens of households deeply flooded, greatly affecting life and activities.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ha Vinh Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nong Cong commune, Thanh Hoa province - said that in the commune, there are about 100 households whose houses were flooded. Among them, many households in Van Thien village were deeply flooded.
In recent days, the locality has directed departments, agencies, functional forces, militia and villages to regularly update on the flood situation, support people, especially households deeply flooded. For households in need of support, the commune will immediately direct forces and vehicles to come to the place for assistance" - Mr. Thanh said.
