On September 19, according to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, in many residential areas of Nong Cong commune, Thanh Hoa province, floodwaters are still deeply flooded. In some areas, roads to people's houses are flooded to the waist, making travel difficult.

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ha Vinh Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of Nong Cong Commune People's Committee said that as of noon on the same day, due to high tide, the flood water level in the area is tending to rise, causing many households to continue to be deeply flooded.
According to the People's Committee of Nong Cong commune, at 8:00 AM on September 19, the water level measured at Chuoi Hydrological Station was 3.63m, 0.13m higher than alarm level III.
As of noon on the same day, the whole commune still had 612 households in 8/19 villages flooded. Among them, 70 households with 157 people are still isolated.


Previously, the locality organized on-site relocation of 461 households, and so far 286 households have returned home. In addition, 23 households with 50 people were relocated centrally, of which 13 households with 32 people have returned.
Floods also caused great damage to agricultural production. The whole commune has 115.5ha of rice flooded, including 103ha inside the dyke and 12.5ha outside the dyke; 2.5ha of crops and 116ha of annual crops flooded.
To proactively respond to flood developments, the Civil Defense Command of Nong Cong commune has organized meetings, deployed response plans, assigned specific tasks to each member, official, civil servant and maintained 24/24 hour duty.
Forces are required to closely monitor the developments of rain and floods, water levels on rivers, canals, lakes, and dams; fully implement tasks corresponding to each level of flood alarm, absolutely not subjective or negligent.

The locality also continues to review riverside residential areas, low-lying areas, areas at risk of deep flooding and fragmentation to proactively notify and support people when necessary.
The Commune People's Committee has proactively prepared motorboats, plastic boats, inflatable boats, lifebuoys, handheld loudspeakers; and contracted with vehicle owners, excavators, and units supplying rocks, soil, sand, drinking water, food and necessities in the area, ready to participate in response when situations occur" - a representative of Nong Cong Commune People's Committee informed.
