In April 2025, Hanoi started the project to build an elevated intersection between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Avenue.
The project has a total investment of more than 2,380 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Civil Engineering Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The construction scale of the intersection includes turbine branches combined with direct tunnels: Direct underpass in the direction of Le Trong Tan street (now Hoang Tung) to National Highway 32, the center of the route coincides with Hoang Tung street, arranged with 4 lanes with a total length of 975m.
Prestressed reinforced concrete girder turbine branch bridge has a length of 2,357m/4 branches, bridge width of 8.8m arranged with 2 lanes.
Thang Long Joint Venture (5 companies) undertakes the construction of package No. 28. This is the main, important package, with the largest value in the project with a total contract value of 1,620 billion VND.
In which, the contractor Vietnam Import-Export and Construction Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) takes on most of the construction volume of tunnels, bridges and technical infrastructure items of the project.
According to Lao Dong's records, on the construction site of the Ring Road 3.5 - Thang Long Avenue level crossing project, construction items are being deployed simultaneously from tunnels, roads, culverts...
Representatives of Vinaconex contractor said that up to now, 98% of the construction site has been handed over, creating conditions for large-scale construction.
Regarding the road, 100% of weak soil foundation treatment with cement reinforcement earth pillars (CDM) has been completed; roadbed sand filling has reached 60% and geotechnical fabric covering has reached 100% of the volume according to the design.
Currently, the bridge item has constructed 59% of D1000 drilled piles and 35.7% of D1500 drilled piles; completed 37.5% of the pedestal/bridge pier and 35% of the bridge pier body. At the same time, completed 2 bridge spans of branch 4, and are simultaneously constructing bridge spans of branch 1, 2 and 3.
For the tunnel item, the contractor has completed pressing reinforced concrete piles for 10/15 open tunnel segments; has completed concrete filling 1/9 closed tunnel segments (burned HK4A) and 2/15 open tunnel segments (burned HP7, HP8); is constructing open tunnel segments on Hoang Tung street (HP5, HP6 segments).
The culvert item has completed 21% of the box culvert volume according to the contract.
Hundreds of workers and machinery of Vinaconex contractor and contractors were mobilized, constructing "3 shifts, 4 teams" on the construction site with the determination to bring the project to completion according to the set plan.
The project to build an elevated intersection between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Avenue is one of the key traffic projects identified in Program 03 of the City Party Committee on "Urban Embellishment, Urban Development and Urban Economy of Hanoi City in the period 2021-2025".
The transportation project is of great significance with the goal of completing the transportation infrastructure system (framework infrastructure) according to the plan; connecting and exploiting reasonably with the transportation infrastructure structure that has been invested in and built; serving the needs of goods circulation, production and people's travel needs, reducing traffic congestion, contributing to accelerating the formation of urban areas in the area, promoting socio-economic development of the Capital.
