Hanoi People's Committee has approved the project to build a tunnel at the Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe - Ring Road 3 intersection, in order to remove the traffic congestion that has lasted for many years in the western part of the Capital.

According to Decision No. 6475/QD-UBND signed and promulgated by Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan, the underpass is built in the direct direction of Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe with a scale of 6 lanes.
The total length of the entire tunnel route and auxiliary items is 655m, including 120m of closed tunnel, 200m of open tunnel and 335m of barrier walls and wheel barriers. The cross-section of the tunnel is 27m wide, 7.4m high, passing through Tu Liem, Cau Giay and Yen Hoa wards.

The project is invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. The main goal is to solve traffic conflicts at intersections that are often overloaded, especially during peak hours, while reducing waiting time, travel costs and urban environmental pollution.
Recorded at the Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe intersection area, many people expressed their expectations for this project.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Yen (resident of Yen Hoa ward) said that during peak hours, this area is constantly congested, sometimes I take nearly 30 minutes just to get through the intersection. According to Mr. Yen, if there is a tunnel, travel will definitely be much more convenient.

Sharing the same wish, Ms. Le Hong Nhung, an office worker working in the Me Tri area, shared: "We are only worried that the construction process will be prolonged, affecting travel and living. But if it is done quickly, ensuring progress and safety, people will strongly support it for long-term benefits.

Regarding this project, according to the Hanoi People's Committee, the investor and consulting units are responsible for the accuracy of the data, the rationality of the design solution and the legality of the project dossier.
The selection of contractors, quality management, costs and progress must strictly comply with current regulations, while ensuring traffic safety, labor safety and minimizing impacts on people's lives during construction.

Currently, Hanoi has put into use 4 underpasses at Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan and Le Van Luong intersections; and is building 2 other underpasses at Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection and Co Linh - Vinh Tuy bridge intersection.
The continued investment in the Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe - Ring Road 3 underpass is expected to gradually complete the transport infrastructure network, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the Capital.
