High demand, lack of supply, excess demand
Pham My (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) who runs a personal Santa Claus rental service shared: “This year, the number of customers booking Santa Claus rentals has doubled compared to last year, mainly on the 23rd and 24th, especially on the evening of December 24th.
Because our service operates individually, on average I only deliver gifts to 7-8 houses per night. Because the children are getting ready for bed around 9:30 p.m., I have quite a few overlapping schedules. Between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. is the time when Santa Claus runs at full speed.”
With a larger scale, Mr. Vu Huy Hoang - Santa Claus rental service Dai Hai Event said, this year the demand has increased many times so the Santa Claus rental service is "sold out". Most of the people who pretend to be Santa Claus are students, the evening of December 24 is always the busiest day so we have to prepare 4-5 people to work from 6pm to 11pm to complete the job.
“When choosing someone to play Santa Claus, I prioritize choosing a tall male to play the role most accurately. Many children wonder if Santa Claus lives abroad, so I have to hire 2 people with IELTS 7.0 certificates to meet all customer needs,” Vu Huy Hoang expressed.
With such a huge attraction on the days leading up to Christmas, the price for renting Santa Claus has not increased following the trend. The average rental cost ranges from 100,000 - 300,000 VND/time. For large events or large crowds, the rental price will be higher, possibly from 500,000 - 1 million VND or more.
Today, the custom of Santa Claus giving gifts is not only for children but also extended to friends, relatives and colleagues. This is a way for people to show their affection and care, contributing to making the holiday season more meaningful.
Bringing happiness to everyone this Christmas
Every Christmas season, Santa Claus brings joy to hundreds of families. But sometimes, they also receive emotional moments in return, making their job not just a duty but a deeply human experience.
Vu Huy Hoang shared that the next time he gave gifts at the Ha Dong District kindergarten was a touching and memorable experience. While the children were eagerly receiving the gifts prepared by their parents, a child with jaundice sat sadly in the corner of the room. It turned out that the child named Minh did not receive a Christmas gift from his parents like the other children. After searching for a long time and not finding any gift, Hoang quickly remembered that he had prepared a small gift for his younger brother at home. Without thinking, Hoang immediately gave the gift to the child with jaundice.
Remembering the little boy's words of thanks, promises to try to be good and take his medicine, Hoang could not contain his emotions. Even though it was just a short evening, that moment made him realize the true meaning of the work he was doing. It was to bring joy and hope to those who needed it most, sometimes just a small gift but with great meaning.
