From the afternoon of May 2nd, the traffic volume on the expressway in the direction from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi increased sharply, causing prolonged congestion in many sections, and vehicles moved slowly.
Sharing with PV, Ms. Nguyen Phuong (born 1978, from Ha Tinh) said that her family proactively went from Ha Tinh to Hanoi one day earlier than planned to avoid the crowded scene at the end of the holiday. However, the journey still encountered many difficulties due to the large number of vehicles.
It's true that the big idea came together, I thought going early would be less congested, but in the end it was still stuck. The longest congestion section is the Liem Tuyen intersection area. A few more collisions, so the car almost moved little by little. My family expects it will take about 7 hours to get to Hanoi," Ms. Phuong said.

Not only Ms. Phuong's family, on social networks, many drivers also reflected the situation of localized congestion on the expressway. Accordingly, congestion mainly occurred in the section from Liem Tuyen intersection to the area through Dong Van Industrial Park, while the remaining sections vehicles still traveled relatively smoothly.
At about 5:40 pm, PV's records at the end of the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, the traffic jam stretched nearly 2km in the direction of Hanoi center. At times, functional forces were forced to temporarily close the way to Ring Road 3 elevated to reduce traffic pressure on this route. By nearly 7 pm, the number of vehicles pouring into the capital's gateway continued to increase.

At the same time, on Ngoc Hoi street, the section from alley 161 Ngoc Hoi to Ngoc Hoi - Do Muoi intersection, the density of vehicles also increased, moving slowly. Functional forces were on duty, regulating traffic to limit prolonged congestion.
According to forecasts, on the evening of May 2nd and tomorrow (May 3rd), the number of vehicles returning to Hanoi after the holidays will continue to increase sharply, the risk of congestion at gateway routes is still high.
The Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security recommends that people when moving back to major cities should strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, comply with traffic lights and instructions from functional forces; and proactively monitor traffic conditions to choose appropriate routes and avoid congestion.
