Regarding the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper on the discovery of black, open wastewater near the factory of Mekong MDF Wood Joint Stock Company (abbreviated as Mekong Wood Factory) in Cam Khe Industrial Park, Cam Khe District, the People's Committee of Phu Tho Province has issued a decision to impose administrative sanctions in the field of environmental protection on this enterprise.
Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan signed and issued Decision No. 1682/QD-UBND, sanctioning administrative violations in the field of environmental protection against Mekong MDF Wood Joint Stock Company for discharging wastewater containing normal environmental parameters into the environment exceeding technical standards on waste by 10 times or more in the case of discharging wastewater from 60 m3/day (24 hours) to less than 80 m3/day (24 hours). The fine is 260 million VND.
At the same time, the fine increases by 50% for the Total Nitrogen parameter exceeding the technical standard by 10 times or more: 130 million VND; The fine increases by 40% for the COD parameter exceeding the technical standard by 5 times to less than 10 times: 104 million VND; The fine increases by 20% for the BOD5 parameter exceeding the technical standard by 1.5 times to less than 3 times: 52 million VND; The fine increases by 20% for the Color parameter exceeding the technical standard by 1.5 times to less than 3 times: 52 million VND; The fine increases by 10% for the Mineral Oil parameter exceeding the technical standard by 1.1 times to less than 1.5 times: 26 million VND.
Thus, the total fine is 624 million VND.
Along with that, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province requested MDF Mekong Wood Joint Stock Company to immediately stop the above violations, stop discharging wastewater that does not meet the permitted standards to the wastewater connection point; and strictly comply with the law on environmental protection.
Previously, on August 7, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article " Discovery of black, exposed wastewater in the largest industrial park in Phu Tho ", reflecting information and images of black, exposed wastewater discovered inside and around an unfinished manhole along the fence of the Mekong wood factory in Cam Khe industrial park.
According to actual records, next to the above mentioned manhole, the reporter discovered another wastewater discharge pipe was drilled straight through the Mekong wood factory fence, discharging wastewater directly into the environment, overflowing around the manhole and seeping into the ground...
Upon receiving information from Lao Dong Newspaper reporters about the above irregularities, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hanh - Head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks of Phu Tho province directed officials to go to the scene to inspect and make a record. At the same time, the wastewater samples were sent for testing, and after the results were available, the Provincial People's Committee was asked to handle them according to regulations.
