On June 9, Quang Binh Provincial Police said that a local resident had just handed over a rare Cu li to the authorities.
Previously, Mr. Pham Thanh Truyen (born at 28, residing in Phu Loc 1 village, Quang Phu commune, Quang Trach district) while clearing the garden discovered a small langur, a rare capital species named in the Vietnam Red Book. Immediately afterwards, Mr. Truyen proactively reported to the Quang Phu Commune Police.
Upon receiving the report, the Commune Police coordinated to complete the procedures and hand over the langur to the Quang Trach District Forest Protection Department and the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life organics of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care according to regulations.
According to the professional agency, the small reptile (scientific name Nycticebus pygmaeus) is an animal in group IB - an endangered, rare forest animal, strictly prohibited from illegal exploitation, captivity, and use. This species is currently at high risk of extinction and is being strictly protected both in Vietnam and around the world.
