On September 13, the Forest Protection Department of Hoai Nhon Town (Binh Dinh) - said that since the beginning of May 2024, the situation of forest encroachment in Lo Dieu village (Hoai My commune) has become complicated. This unit has coordinated with the People's Committee of Hoai My commune to inspect, detect and establish records of 9 cases of illegal deforestation and encroachment of forest land, with a total violation area of more than 2.6 hectares.
The entire damaged forest area mentioned above is natural forest planned for production function under the KfW6 project, which has been granted a land use right certificate for individuals, households and forestry land managed by the People's Committee of Hoai Nhon district (now Hoai Nhon town).
Of the 9 deforestation cases, 3 have been administratively sanctioned (including: Ho Thi T, Tran T and Truong Van L); 4 cases are being verified and their records are being consolidated (Ho Thi M, Le Thi Th, Do Van M and Ho Van L).
Regarding the remaining two cases of deforestation that Lao Dong Newspaper has just reported (Ms. Nguyen Thi Que destroyed 1.2ha and Ms. Huynh Thi Suong destroyed 0.6ha of natural forest), Hoai Nhon Town Forest Protection Department has coordinated with relevant agencies, Hoai My Commune People's Committee and forest owners to assess the forest damage. There are still no results.
Faced with the above situation, the Forest Protection Branch of Binh Dinh province requested the Hoai Nhon Town Forest Protection Department to coordinate with the People's Committee of Hoai My commune and relevant authorities to organize inspections, monitor and protect the scene of deforestation to serve the investigation and verification work. At the same time, consolidate the violation records for handling according to regulations.
After the results of the forest damage assessment are available, if the violation shows signs of a crime, the case will be reported as a crime for handling according to the law.
The Forest Protection Branch of Binh Dinh province also requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province to issue a document requesting the People's Committee of Hoai Nhon town to direct relevant agencies and local authorities to coordinate with the forest protection force to investigate and clarify the subjects of deforestation, consolidate the records of violations to strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on July 24, forest rangers discovered 1.8 hectares of forest destroyed in the Ho Cai area (Lo Dieu village, Hoai My commune).
The authorities determined that at lot 58 (plot 9, sub-area 86), this forest was allocated land by the People's Committee of Hoai Nhon district and granted a Land Use Right Certificate to Ms. Nguyen Thi Que's household (born in 1969) in 2014, for regeneration. However, Ms. Que destroyed 1.2 hectares of natural timber forest, poor evergreen status, planned for production function.
At lot 129 (plot 9, sub-area 86), Hoai Nhon District People's Committee allocated land and issued a Land Use Right Certificate to Ms. Huynh Thi Suong's household (born in 1957) in 2014 for reforestation. However, Ms. Suong destroyed 0.6 ha of natural timber forest.
