According to reports from localities, the whole province currently has 592 centralized water supply projects. Of which, Phu Tho area has 203 projects, Vinh Phuc has 47 and Hoa Binh has 342.
Notably, the number of projects in operation is only 185 systems (accounting for 31.25%).
The situation of "covering" is widespread with 407 projects stopping operation (accounting for 68.75%). The projects stopping operation are most concentrated in Hoa Binh area (246 projects) and Phu Tho (131 projects).
Among the running systems, there are 91 projects with a capacity of 100 m3/day and night or more.
Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee said that the clean water supply system in rural areas still has many limitations.
Water pollution due to domestic waste discharge, spontaneous landfills; declining groundwater levels due to uncontrolled exploitation and negative impacts of climate change.
In addition, outdated treatment technology and lack of synchronous infrastructure make many projects quickly damaged.
Faced with the above situation, Phu Tho sets a target that in the 2025-2030 term, the province will increase the rate of rural people using clean water that meets standards to over 95%, and at the same time over 80% of projects will focus on safe operation.
To realize the goal, the province prioritizes upgrading 42 large capacity projects (over 100 m3/day and night) in the 2026-2030 period, and at the same time reviewing the remaining 49 systems.
Regarding finance, capital will be integrated from medium-term public investment, the National Target Program and calculated correctly.
