Late on January 29 (the first day of Tet), military medical staff on Sinh Ton island, Truong Sa island district received and treated fisherman Huynh Van Du (51 years old, residing in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) with a left inguinal hernia.
Previously, while fishing in the sea about 5 nautical miles from Sinh Ton Island, fisherman Huynh Van Du discovered a tumor near his left groin that gradually grew larger, became hard, and caused severe pain.
Resting did not help, so fishermen on fishing boat KH-96543TS took him to Sinh Ton island for emergency treatment.

Through examination, Sinh Ton island's military doctors diagnosed that the patient had a large left inguinal hernia, threatening strangulation. They performed surgery to remove 1/3 of the omentum, pushing the rest back into the abdomen, and reconstructing the mixed abdominal wall.
After more than 3 hours, the surgery was successful.
