According to information from the Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment, the unit has issued a document temporarily suspending the licensing of waterway vehicles operating in the sea area of Quang Ninh province to respond to the unusual developments of storm No. 1.
According to the forecast of Quang Ninh Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of July 4, storm No. 1 will pass through Hainan Island, enter the North of the Gulf of Tonkin with wind force level 8, gusts level 10, disaster risk level 3.
To ensure safety for ships and boats in conditions where meteorological disturbances may appear, causing localized tornadoes at sea before the storm, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests units and People's Committees of coastal localities to temporarily suspend licensing for overnight accommodation ships and bay sightseeing ships from 12:00 on July 3.
For the remaining waterway vehicles, the temporary suspension of licensing starts from 5:00 PM on July 3. For operating ships, it may be considered to allow them to move to safe shelters and complete this before 7:00 AM on July 4.
The suspension of licensing will be maintained until the meteorological agency issues the final storm bulletin.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the Quang Ninh Maritime Administration to base on weather developments to decide on licensing vehicles that meet operating conditions, and at the same time requested relevant units and localities to strictly implement safety assurance measures.
