The worry of "dusty sun, muddy rain" is about to be relieved
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, National Highway 14G (section passing through Da Nang) has long become a nightmare for people and drivers. Images of peeling road sections, "potholes" with water and dust in highland communes: Dong Giang, A Vuong, Song Kon... not only cause traffic unsafety but also stifle the trade activities of thousands of local households.
Mr. At Na (Ta Vat village, Dong Giang commune) once sadly shared: "The road is narrow, damaged for many years, we live with dust every day. We only hope the State will soon repair it so that our children can go to school less miserably.

In response to that expectation, recently, the Urban Committee of Da Nang City People's Council organized a working session with relevant units to accelerate the progress of investment and upgrading of National Highway 14G and DT. 606 (from A Vuong commune to Tay Giang - Ka Lum sub-border gate).
At the working session, Mr. Le Tung Lam - Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council emphasized that upgrading and expanding National Highway 14G (from National Highway 14B to Prao town) is an urgent requirement. This not only increases the connectivity between East and West but is also an important "blood vessel" in disaster prevention, rescue and security in border areas.
Specifically, Da Nang City People's Committee has issued Decision No. 74/QD-UBND implementing an emergency construction order on National Highway 14G with a budget of about 5 billion VND. The project focuses on thoroughly handling dangerous negative taluy landslide locations at Km39+040, Km41+400 and Km47+190 - where soil and rocks have penetrated deep into the roadbed, directly threatening the lives of traffic participants.
Key items on National Highway 14G include: Handling landslides, restoring the roadbed with stone or cement concrete embankments; The drainage system has been repaired with 4 eroded culverts, restoring 356m of longitudinal ditches. In particular, priority is given to asphalt concrete pavement sections passing through schools; asphalt paving and adding signs in residential areas with a total area of 8,700m2.
Road repair to be completed in April 2026
At the same time, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung also signed an emergency construction order on National Highway 14D with a budget of 11.7 billion VND. The project is implemented in the area of Ben Giang, Nam Giang and La Dee communes to handle heavily damaged locations with a high risk of congestion.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Han, a truck driver specializing in transporting agricultural products on the Da Nang - Dong Giang route, excitedly said: "We have been plowing on this road for so many years, it's a pity for the car, but we are worried about our lives ten times more. Especially on landslide sections, if you are careless, you will fall into the abyss immediately. Hearing the news that the city has asphalted the road surface and reinforced the landslide points, we drivers are very happy.
To avoid repeating the temporary "patching" situation, the Urban Committee proposed that functional sectors carefully survey the terrain and hydrology, ensuring that the project has high adaptability to extreme climate change.

The highest goal is to prevent damage from arising, not to let traffic disruption affect people's lives. According to the plan, the project on National Highway 14G must be completed before April 15 and on National Highway 14D before April 30.
With the drastic move to deploy the repair of key national highways in western Da Nang, the "difficult" roads before Tet will soon be replaced by smooth and safe road sections, opening up economic development opportunities for ethnic minorities in this area.
