On July 28, Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy and a working delegation inspected a series of traffic projects, urban infrastructure and public assets in Sa Pa ward.
The delegation surveyed key projects including: Provincial Road 155 section from Mong Sen bridge to Sa Pa; Ham Rong road tunnel connecting National Highway 4D with Provincial Road 152; parking lot system; wastewater treatment plant; artificial intelligence (AI) integrated camera system and a number of urban area projects.
In which, the Provincial Road 155 project has a total investment of 360 billion VND, about 6.4km long, playing a role in expanding the urban development space of Sa Pa.
To date, more than 57% of the area to be cleared has been handed over, but progress is still slow due to problems with compensation, land recovery and errors in cadastral records.
For the Ham Rong tunnel project with a total capital of about 2,500 billion VND, the locality proposed to soon complete investment procedures to deploy site clearance and ensure progress.
The working group also inspected the Sa Pa urban wastewater treatment system with a total investment of more than 203 billion VND. Currently, the project is only operating at about 35-40% of its designed capacity due to the collection system being not synchronized, and many areas have not been connected.
In addition to infrastructure projects, the working group surveyed many public housing and land facilities such as the old Guesthouse No. 2, the professional training facility of the State Treasury, Sa Pa Tourist House, Sa Pa Tropical and High Mountain Climate Research Station and Sa Pa Conference Center to review management and exploitation plans effectively, avoiding waste of public assets.
Concluding the inspection session, Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy requested the Sa Pa ward government and departments and branches to focus on thoroughly removing obstacles, especially at the new administrative center; promote dialogue and propaganda to create consensus among the people, ensuring the rights of affected households.
For transportation projects, urban infrastructure, wastewater treatment and smart cities, the comrade requested to urgently complete procedures and prioritize resources for urgent projects.
At the same time, develop a management and operation plan immediately after completion to promote investment efficiency, contributing to building Sa Pa into a green, smart and sustainable tourism city.
