According to Lao Dong reporters, since the morning of February 2, Tan Son Nhat airport has been crowded with people returning to Ho Chi Minh City after the Tet holiday.
At the airport’s technology car pick-up area, there were many passengers waiting with lots of luggage. Previously, on the 3rd and 4th days of Tet, many passengers also flew from the Central provinces to Ho Chi Minh City to work after the Tet holiday.
Landing at Tan Son Nhat airport at 9:30 a.m. on February 2 after more than 10 days of Tet holiday in his hometown, Mr. Truong Gia Bao (25 years old, living in Tan Phu district) said that tomorrow his company will return to work as usual, so he chose the morning flight to return to Ho Chi Minh City, having nearly a day to rest, regain his working spirit, and take the opportunity to clean the house after more than a week back home.
"Now I'll take a taxi home, stop by the supermarket to buy some things to cook lunch, clean the house and take a nap so I'll have the energy to go to work tomorrow," said Mr. Bao.
According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, today (February 2), the airport served 979 flights, including 488 departures (yesterday 472 flights) and 491 arrivals (yesterday 469 flights). The total number of passengers during the day reached 150,512, of which, 57,194 were departures and 93,318 were arrivals.
It is known that during the peak period of Lunar New Year 2025 (from December 15, Giap Thin year to January 15, At Ty year, or from January 14 to February 12, 2025), Tan Son Nhat airport is expected to welcome more than 4 million passengers.
To ensure security, Tan Son Nhat Airport has increased staff to coordinate and support passengers at the terminal and parking areas; encouraged passengers to book technology cars or use public transport in advance to avoid long waiting times, carefully check flight information, landing times and choose reasonable travel times to avoid congestion.
According to the airport's slot allocation plan, many peak hours have up to 50 flights/hour. Thus, on average, Tan Son Nhat Airport has a flight taking off or landing every 1 minute. Peak hours with a high number of planes taking off and landing are from 7 to 8 a.m.; 9 to 10 a.m.; 11 to 12 p.m.; 2 to 3 p.m.; 4 to 5 p.m.... The number of flights departing and arriving from the domestic terminal has increased sharply to meet the needs of people returning to Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces.
It is expected that the number of passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat airport today and the following days will increase sharply compared to previous days.
