On August 12, Binh Duong General Hospital announced that the pregnant woman L.N.P (20 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) had given birth to twins, both boys, safely at the hospital.
The two boys were born to the overwhelming joy of the medical team of Binh Duong General Hospital and the happiness of the mother's family.
Specialist Doctor II Vo Thai Trung - Deputy Head of the Department, Head of the Orthopedic Trauma Department of Binh Duong General Hospital shared: "After the girl gave birth, she happily laughed, the grandmother cried... We kept our promise. This is the result of everyone's contribution".
According to records, this is one of the rare cases. At the end of September 2025, Ms. L.N.P had a work accident that severed her hand. When admitted to the hospital, the young girl hoped to be able to keep her hand so that she could directly take care of her two children with her own hands.
In response to that wish, the doctors decided to preserve the severed hand by temporarily grafting it to the calf, connecting the cosmetic vessel, and covering the head near the forehead with a random patch of skin in the abdomen. Thereby, maintaining blood circulation and keeping the tissue structure intact while waiting for the hand to reattach at the more appropriate time.
At the end of November-February 2025, when the mother was 34 weeks pregnant, doctors at Binh Duong General Hospital successfully performed surgery to reattach the mother's right hand.
This is a special surgery with a strong sense of humanity. The surgery is of high difficulty, marking a step forward in the micro-surgical capacity of Binh Duong General Hospital.
