On December 8, Sumy region Governor Oleh Hryhorov said at least seven people were injured when a Russian drone attacked an apartment complex in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Okhtyrka.
The injured were taken to the hospital, of which 2 people had to be hospitalized for treatment, the rest were taken care of and discharged afterwards.
Mr. Hryhorov said that the multi-storey building suffered great damage after the airstrike. Some residents managed to take shelter after receiving the warning, while rescue forces approached the upper floors to bring those still stranded to safety.
The Sumy region borders Russia and has been hit by shelling and drone attacks since Moscow launched a large-scale military campaign against Ukraine in 2022.
The conflict has lasted for nearly four years and has claimed thousands of lives, mostly Ukrainian civilians.
There has been no response from Moscow regarding the attack.
