Volunteered to fight in the South
In the traditional room of Lao Dong Newspaper, there is a portrait of martyr journalist Le Ai My, who died in the Southern battlefield in 1970.
According to documents of journalist Van Hien, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper, journalist Le Ai My was born in 1936, originally from Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh, and moved to the North in 1954.
Journalist Le Ai My graduated from a Western baccalaureate, is good at French, and works at the Vietnam General Trade Union (now the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor); Later, the organization transferred Mr. Le Ai My to work at Lao Dong Newspaper.
In 1963, due to the revolutionary situation, the Central Government had a policy of sending a number of key officials to the South to build press agencies and organize revolutionary movements. Journalist Le Ai My volunteered to fight. ordained into the Southern battlefield to work and fight.
On February 15, 1963, the cadre group departed for the South. Along the way, the march was extremely strenuous, arduous, and lacking, overcoming dangerous forest roads. After 3 months, the new cadres arrived at the headquarters of the Central Department of the South in Tay Ninh.
Shining a shining example of a revolutionary journalist
Arriving at the Central Bureau of the South, journalist Le Ai My and other officials organized activities with Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet (former President), who at this time was Secretary of the Liberation Youth Union.
As a party member, journalist and trade union official, Le Ai My must perform dual tasks: journalistic activities; both trade union activities and building trade union organizations and the worker movement.
Journalist Le Ai My was the first person to organize and build the Liberation Labor Newspaper. During the war, when facilities, communications, and living conditions were extremely lacking and arduous, Le Ai My literally held a pen and a gun.
Journalist Le Ai My, along with her colleagues who went to the South, worked multi-functionally: working as a reporter, editing, processing news stories, organizing printing and distribution... Overcoming difficulties and dangers. danger and deprivation, revolutionary newspapers such as Liberation Labor, Liberation (predecessor of Saigon Giai Phong newspaper), Liberated Women... have become sharp weapons on the ideological front, contributing to propaganda. transmitting patriotism, revolutionary heroes, reflecting the battlefield situation... contributing to victory.
In her role as a union officer, Le Ai My "worked together" with workers at Ba Son Shipyard, Saigon Port and made efforts to successfully build a trade union organization and worker movement in these important facilities.
At the end of 1967, journalist Son Tung left Tien Phong newspaper to go to the southern battlefield to found Thanh Giai Phong newspaper. At the Central Bureau of the South, the working location of the Liberation Youth newspaper, Son Tung and the reporters took care of organizing assignments and directly writing articles, quickly becoming acquainted with journalist Le Ai My.
Later, when he met journalist Van Hien, writer Son Tung recounted his impression of colleague Le Ai My, an elegant, intelligent intellectual, with a calm personality, quiet, and a very hard-working and serious worker. despite limited health.

On June 15, 1970, on his way to work, journalist Le Ai My was ambushed by the enemy and died in 18 betel garden villages (Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City). Unfortunately, his remains have not yet been found.
After 15 years of diligent collection, up to now, journalist Van Hien has documents on 512 revolutionary martyr journalists who fell in the cause of defending the Fatherland and brought the tablets to worship at Da Pagoda (Europe). Lac Tu) in Hung Loc commune (Vinh City, Nghe An), including journalist Le Ai My.
