On the morning of September 8, in a quick interview with Lao Dong, Mr. Quach Cong Khang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Minh Commune, Da Bac District, said that the particularly serious incident occurred at around 0:05 a.m. the same day at the home of Mr. Xa Van Som (born in 1973) in Cham Hamlet, Tan Minh Commune.
As a result, the house completely collapsed, 5 people in a family were buried in the house including Xa Van Som, Xa Thi Xay (born in 1975), Xa Thi Xuyen (born in 1996), Ha Van Hieu (born in 2017) and Ha Thi Diem (born in 2023).
Up to now, there have been 4 deaths and Mr. Xa Van Som was injured.
According to the leader of the Commune People's Committee, the collapsed house was a flat-roofed house built next to a hillside.
"Rescue work is currently underway, but due to many landslides on the roads, motorbikes and cars cannot pass, Tan Minh commune is almost isolated so rescue forces have not been able to reach it yet" - said the leader of Tan Minh commune.
The storm also caused heavy damage to Hoa Binh province, with 146 houses affected and 1,228 households evacuated. Nearly 1,500 hectares of rice and crops were damaged, 11 landslides and subsidence sites were affected, and 8 schools were affected.
