On the morning of December 31, before the New Year 2026, the lives of households in the temporary residential area after giving up land to serve the construction of the Hong Ha bridge project (belonging to Me Linh commune, Hanoi) have gradually stabilized.
After Lao Dong's reflection, local authorities have installed more clean water systems and increased three-phase electricity to ensure daily life for households.
At 10 am on December 31, the temporary residential area arranged for households to give up land to serve the Hong Ha bridge construction project - an important item of the Ring Road 4 mega-project - was quite quiet.
Most adults have gone to work, children go to school. In the temporary dormitories arranged by the authorities after relocation, only a few old people gather to chat. Life seems to be not much disrupted.
This temporary residential area was originally a primary school, requisitioned by the Me Linh commune government to create accommodation for people for a period of time before they moved to a new place.
In the early days, the demand for electricity and water of nearly 30 households with full electronic equipment caused the system to be overloaded. However, in recent days, this problem has been resolved.

Showing reporters the newly installed three-phase power system, and 2 water pipes operating at full capacity, Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh (Management Board of Investment - Infrastructure Projects of Me Linh commune) excitedly said: Currently, the electricity and water needs of households in the temporary residential area have basically met well. “Moreover, we also installed new sockets in each room for people to use comfortably,” Mr. Quynh informed.
As one of the earliest relocated households to give way to the construction of Hong Ha bridge, Mr. Dinh Van Phat's extended family is arranged to temporarily live in a fairly spacious room on the 1st floor. Mr. Phat and his sons have both been allocated resettlement land by the government, and are currently building a new house.
The 67-year-old man shared: "The temporary residence life is of course not as comfortable and complete as living at home. However, the necessary conditions are fully met. Moreover, this is also an opportunity for the family, grandparents and grandchildren to be closer to each other. From now until Tet, when completed and moved to a new place, this temporary residence period may be a memory for our family.
Vice Chairman of Me Linh Commune People's Committee Tran Nguyen Ngoc said that the Ring Road 4 project in Hanoi Capital, the section passing through Me Linh commune is 4.9km long, the total land area to be recovered is about 58.8ha, involving nearly 1,938 households. Among these, more than 200 residential land plots must be resettled to serve site clearance work.
Up to now, the entire land area within the recovery boundary of the Hong Ha bridge construction project and Ring Road 4, the section passing through Me Linh commune, has been fully handed over by people to the construction unit, ensuring compliance with the city's requirements and schedule.
Regarding the issue of temporary residence for people, the leaders of Me Linh commune are very concerned and share with the people. We try to make the temporary residence area have the best living conditions. In addition, the commune will support 15 million VND/household for people to find suitable accommodation, ensuring life is not disrupted," Mr. Tran Nguyen Ngoc informed.
