According to this announcement, due to the sudden increase in people's demand for domestic water in the days before Tet, the water supply system is overloaded during peak hours, which can easily lead to weak water flow, shortages or water outages.
The Center for Rural Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation of Soc Trang province informs agencies, units of communes and wards to support information for people and agencies, enterprises, schools, medical stations... in the area in time to have a plan to reserve domestic water from January 15 until after Tet. At the same time, encourage the use of water economically, avoid waste to ensure enough domestic water in the coming time.

Currently, the Center for Rural Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation is managing and operating 141 centralized water supply works. The total licensed capacity is 115,008 m³/day and night. The total length of the water supply pipeline under management is more than 3,579 km, providing water for over 147,618 rural households in districts and towns. The average water supply flow is about 100 liters/person/day.
However, groundwater resources are decreasing, some places are affected by salinity while the demand for clean water of the people is increasing, leading to local water supply being affected at some water supply stations. The water supply system is overloaded due to the need to expand the network. Each year, the investment unit expands the network by about 50,000m of pipelines but has not met the needs of people in Soc Trang province.
