On August 23, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province said that from August 23, the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Monument will temporarily stop receiving visitors to serve the construction of the Thong Nhat Park project - a project with a total investment of 80 billion VND.
Accordingly, during the time of handing over the site and implementing the construction of all items of the project (from August 2025 to December 31, 2025), the reception, explanation and guidance of visitors will not ensure service conditions.
The temporary suspension of receiving visitors is also to ensure safety throughout the construction process, while creating favorable conditions for the Project Management Board to speed up the progress and soon complete the project items.
"During the temporary suspension of receiving guests, we are still operating normally to protect and do cleaning work. In the coming time, there will be a Hien Luong with guaranteed facilities, serving well tourists from all over the world", Ms. Le Thi To Hoai, Head of the Management Board of the special national relic site on the banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai informed.

The Thong Nhat Park project was approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province (before the merger) in December 2024, with items for restoration and renovation of the flagpole, Hien Luong bridge, a joint house, a working house of the Relic Management Board and a toilet on the North bank, a reception house and a toilet on the South bank, along with many other auxiliary items and temporary works.
In particular, Hien Luong Bridge will replace the rusty and damaged steel frame; replace the bridge with 50mm thick ironwood; repair and reinforce the bridge abutment with carbon fiber. The project also invests in specialized equipment for the film studio, explanation and management work.
The relic on both banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai is a red address for patriotic traditional education, recognized as a Special National Monument in 2014. In recent years, this place has welcomed hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign visitors to visit and learn about the history of the country during the isolation period.
