At 6:55 a.m. on April 8, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Center) received information from the HOSEI CROWN ship ( Panamanian nationality, Callsign: 3FHL8, IMO: 9543926; 120 m long; 21 m wide) on its journey from Chua Ve port, Hai Phong to the Philippines. At location 20-21N; 107-05E (about 20 km south of Hai Phong channel 0, about 45 nautical miles northwest of Bach Long Vi island), the fishing boat collided with fishing boat TH 92686 TS, causing the fishing boat to sink. The weather in the area has Southeast winds of level 3-4, foggy seas.

Immediately after receiving the information, the center asked the Hosei Crown ship to continue searching for the missing fishermen, instructing the ship to release the float and organize the search work; issuing maritime notifications; Call the vehicle directly. Along with that, mobilizing ships in the area to participate in search, rescue, and set up search areas for vehicles at the scene; Mobilizing SAR 411 vessels to search and rescue. The center also informs the forces in the region to coordinate the search and rescue, and report to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Department to direct forces to participate in search and rescue.
The center established a forward command post at the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region I (Hai Phong) and sent a working group to promptly direct the search and rescue coordination at the scene.
By 9:10 a.m. on April 8, the search force at the scene had rescued 8 fishermen and recovered 4 bodies. Ship SAR 411 at the scene brought all 8 crew members and 4 bodies to the Central Shipyard in Hai Phong to hand over to the authorities.
The center continues to coordinate with authorities in investigating and verifying the cause of the accident.
