As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 9:34 p.m. on May 26, at the subsidence point on National Highway 3B through Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune (Na Ri, Bac Kan), a motorbike driver fell down a barrier and fell into a hole.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the authorities arrived at the scene, using specialized water pumping equipment to search for the victim.
However, due to the complex geology of the death hole and the continuous landslides, the whereabouts of the victim have not yet been determined.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in early June 2025, the sinkhole area had been roped off and warning signs were placed to limit people's travel.
At the scene, the water level in the hole rose again, making the search even more difficult.
The authorities are still maintaining and staying there, while mobilizing specialized equipment to serve the rescue work.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Truong Quang Trong - Chairman of Kim Lu Commune People's Committee (Na Ri) - said that during the water pumping process, when the water level in the hole temporarily receded, the authorities reached the bottom of the hole.
At this time, they discovered many fish swimming in the hole, suspecting that the subsidence area could be connected to the lake or the surrounding underground flow.
This discovery will be able to support the rescue team in expanding the search area in the coming time, thereby increasing the ability to locate the victim.
