The number of dead and missing continues to rise
According to local reports, some initial damage statistics up to 7:00 a.m. on September 12, 2024 are as follows:
Regarding people: 325 people died or went missing (197 died, 128 went missing), an increase of 124 people compared to the report on August 10 (Lao Cai 111, Yen Bai 4, Quang Ninh 2, Bac Giang 1, Son La 1, Phu Tho 1, Thai Nguyen 2, Hoa Binh 2). Of which:
+ Lao Cai: 177 people (82 dead, 95 missing), including: Bao Yen 109, Sa Pa 9, Bat Xat 16, Simacai 7, Bac Ha 34, Van Ban 2.
+ Cao Bang: 52 people (34 dead, 18 missing).
+ Yen Bai: 44 people (42 dead, 2 missing), including: Yen Bai city 21, Luc Yen: 14, Van Yen 6, Van Chan 1, Tran Yen 2.
+ Quang Ninh: 15 people died.
+ Hai Phong: 2 people died due to storm.
+ Hai Duong: 1 person died due to storm.
+ Hanoi: 1 person died due to storm.
+ Hoa Binh: 7 people died due to landslides.
+ Lang Son: 3 people died due to floods and landslides.
+ Bac Giang: 2 people died due to flood.
+ Tuyen Quang: 3 people due to flood (2 dead, 1 missing).
+ Ha Giang: 2 people (1 dead; 1 missing).
+ Lai Chau: 1 person died due to landslide.
+ Son La: 1 person missing due to flood.
+ Vinh Phuc: 2 people (1 dead, 1 missing due to boat capsize).
+ Phu Tho: 10 people (8 people missing in Phong Chau bridge collapse; 1 person missing due to flood; 1 person died due to landslide).
+ Thai Nguyen: 2 people died due to flood.
Regarding the injured: There were 807 people, including: Quang Ninh 536, Hai Phong 49, Hai Duong 5, Hanoi 23, Bac Giang 7, Bac Ninh 52, Ha Giang 1, Lang Son 10, Lao Cai 69, Yen Bai 23, Cao Bang 17, Phu Tho 5, Bac Kan 3, Hoa Binh 3, Vinh Phuc 2, Thanh Hoa 2.
There are 130,268 damaged houses (an increase of 28,924 houses). Of which: Quang Ninh 70,629, Hai Phong 36,675, Bac Ninh 3,472, Lang Son 2,990, Bac Giang 3,289, Yen Bai 1,378...
Many shops, offices, and schools had their roofs blown off or damaged; many advertising signs, telecommunication poles, and mobile broadcasting stations were broken; urban trees were uprooted and broken on the streets in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, and Hanoi.
There were 57,857 flooded houses (an increase of 17,732 houses). Of which: (Nam Dinh 959; Hanoi 6,521; Yen Bai 21,288; Lang Son 6,614; Thanh Hoa 144; Lao Cai 2,930; Thai Nguyen 5,000; Bac Kan 342; Son La 296; Ha Giang 664; Tuyen Quang 10,489; Ninh Binh 2,604).
About agriculture
As of 7am this morning, 195,929 hectares of rice were flooded and damaged (an increase of 35,078 hectares). Of which, Hai Phong 23,870 hectares; Nam Dinh 30,271 hectares; Thai Binh 11,000 hectares; Hanoi 27,318 hectares; Hung Yen 2,012 hectares; Hai Duong 20,467 hectares; Ha Nam 7,928 hectares; Bac Giang 18,779 hectares; Bac Ninh 4,711 hectares; Lang Son 5,220 hectares; Vinh Phuc 9,054 hectares; Thai Nguyen 7,332 hectares; Tuyen Quang 4,362 hectares, etc.
35,010 hectares of crops were flooded and damaged (an increase of 4,310 hectares); concentrated in Hai Phong 2,500 hectares; Thai Binh 3,345 hectares; Hanoi 4,046 hectares; Hai Duong 3,159 hectares; Bac Giang 1,981 hectares; Hoa Binh 6,728 hectares; Phu Tho 1,631 hectares; Lang Son 1,849 hectares...
22,237 hectares of fruit trees were damaged (concentrated in Hai Phong 2,130 hectares; Thai Binh 1,385 hectares; Hanoi 3,924 hectares; Hung Yen 2,953 hectares; Hai Duong 3,163 hectares; Bac Giang 6,669 hectares,...).
1,791 aquaculture cages were damaged or swept away (concentrated in Quang Ninh 1,000, Hai Duong 300,...).
2,502 livestock and 1,523,345 poultry died (concentrated in Hai Duong 388,605, Hai Phong 644,452 poultry; Thai Nguyen 292,696).
Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hanoi suffered widespread power and communication outages: 12 500kV lines, 36 220kV lines, 173 110kV lines had problems, and 5,305 electric poles were broken.
Localities are continuing to review and count the damage.
