Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport (DOT) has just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor) requesting to address the existing issues and damages at the An Phu intersection project.
Recently, the DOT has coordinated with relevant units to inspect the An Phu intersection project and requested the investor to address many inadequacies and existing issues during the construction process.
However, the progress in addressing these inadequacies has been very slow, especially the damage to the surface of Mai Chi Tho road and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, which poses a traffic safety risk for road users.
At the same time, the DOT has also received numerous complaints from the Cat Lai Traffic Police team about the delays in addressing the inadequacies during the construction of the An Phu intersection project.
Therefore, the DOT requests the investor to urgently address all the inadequacies mentioned in previous documents. If the road surface damage is not promptly addressed, the Ho Chi Minh City DOT will consider not approving the traffic organization plan for construction or granting construction permits for the An Phu intersection project.
As one of the most complex traffic areas in Ho Chi Minh City, An Phu intersection at the eastern gateway is being implemented with a total investment of over 3,400 billion VND.
This is a three-level intersection including: a two-way underpass, an elevated overpass, a pedestrian bridge, and islands and mini islands on the ground.
This year, some project components will be completed such as the underpass at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection, Ba Dat bridge, and Giong Ong To bridge.
The entire An Phu intersection project currently reaches over 50% of the total volume, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, helping to reduce congestion in the area, increase traffic capacity to ports, and connect the Southeast region and Long Thanh airport.
