Mr. Le Van Tham - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vung Liem district - said that at 1:00 a.m. on May 30, a 40m long dike landslide occurred along the Truong Dinh river, in Truong Dinh hamlet, Quoi An commune, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province.
The landslide occurred in the area of Mr. Mai Huu Danh's house with a total length of about 40m, including; causing the collapse of 20m of the dike and net, along with 20m of the riverbank land being affected. The landslide eaten 5m to 6m inland.
The main cause was determined to be the location of the landslide in front of the flow of Cai Tom culvert, creating a whirlwind when draining water, causing loss of soil and subsidence.
To respond, Vinasarcom of Vung Liem district quickly surveyed the scene according to the direction of the Chairman of the District People's Committee.
Coordinate with the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quoi An commune to apply the "4 on-site" motto, to reinforce temporary flood control, build barriers and signs to cut off traffic in dangerous areas.
"The landslide damaged 20m of the weaving road with a weaving surface width of 1.5m. There were no human casualties. The estimated property damage is about 150 million VND," Mr. Tham added.
